New Page for Francophones!

We’re creating a new page on our ministry site for French-speakers!  This will allow one to keep up with ministry news directly related to the Bible Institute project.  We will eventually provide a newsletter in French via the Bible Institute site.  Here’s the link:  Français

Update on Catherine

Melanie and Catherine
Melanie and Catherine

Catherine is doing better overall.  Her condition has been more stable.  We are thankful that she is able to give a few piano lessons and do some tutoring in English.  Though she would not be able to return to school full time right now, she is considering the possibility of more distance learning classes.  The neurologist increased the dosage of her medicine after the last visit about a month ago but she still has seizures from time to time.

Catherine does not plan to travel with us on a regular basis for deputation.  Céline, one of the young adults in the church, will begin living with us next month.  This will make it easier for Catherine to remain in Quebec City during our trips.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers for our daughter!

Thanks for praying for the conference!

Things went really well with the conference, though we had fewer visitors than we’d hoped.  We had managed to distribute invitations in all the apartments around the church but no one came from that.  Still, the Lord was clearly with us and it was a blessing for all!

Survival Mode

A dear brother in the work here graciously offered to drive us to the airport in VT on Wednesday and what a blessing that was!  Melanie arrived in SC on Thursday in time for supper.  Thank you to Becky Sandquist and another friend from Concord Bible Church for providing the ride from the airport in Charlotte.  Catherine is already doing better but Valerie is not well.  The Sandquist family will need much wisdom in the days ahead as they adapt to mom’s epilepsy.  Pray that Melanie’s time there will be a big help.

Please don’t forget to pray for me (Mike) as I attempt to “hold down the fort” without my dear partner in ministry for the next three weeks.  The current plan is for Melanie and Catherine to return together via VT on October 29th.

Ever since we had to bring our daughter Catherine home from college almost three years ago, the Websters have been in “survival mode”.  Thank you for faithfully supporting us with your prayers through these times.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” (Ro 5:1-5 AV)

Thank you for praying for Summer Mission Teams!

Beth Eden Baptist Team
Summer 2011

As you may know, we decided not to host summer mission teams this year in order to concentrate on Brandon Miller’s internship.  In our 26 years on the field we have rarely had a summer without hosting at least one team.  We have often asked prayer for summer teams since we consider them to be a vital part of our overall ministry as missionaries.  Recently, the Lord greatly encouraged us in this aspect of the work.

First of all, during a service at one of our supporting churches in April, the pastor encouraged testimony from several who had participated in our summer ministries. Through their testimony, God allowed us to hear concrete evidence of His working through teams over the last eight years!  Secondly, the youth pastor of a church that brought a team last summer e-mailed yesterday to share of God’s special working in the heart of one of the young men who came.  “The trip had such an impact on him he requested that I help him set up a missions trip for him individually to help him determine the role of missions in his life. He leaves tomorrow for a week and a half in Madrid, Spain.”

Thank you for praying for Brandon, our summer intern, and thank you for praying for summer mission teams!
