Tomorrow, our oldest daughter Valerie flies out of Charlotte with a group of students from Calvary Christian School in Greer, SC.  She and another teacher are leading this group on a mission trip to help missionaries Jared and Rebekah Stevenson for one week.  We ask you to pray that God might use this trip in the hearts of these young people for His glory.  We are so thankful that Valerie’s epilepsy has been under control for several months now.  We ask you to pray for her in a special way during this trip.  It is such a thrill for us as parents to see her and Tom giving of themselves to the Lord’s work!

Summer Intern 2012

Brandon's Prayer CardIt is hard to believe that Brandon’s internship has come and gone.  What a blessing and a joy it was to have him here!  Thank you for praying.  We encourage you to read his last prayer letter:  Brandon’s July Prayer Letter

Thank you for praying for Summer Mission Teams!

Beth Eden Baptist Team
Summer 2011

As you may know, we decided not to host summer mission teams this year in order to concentrate on Brandon Miller’s internship.  In our 26 years on the field we have rarely had a summer without hosting at least one team.  We have often asked prayer for summer teams since we consider them to be a vital part of our overall ministry as missionaries.  Recently, the Lord greatly encouraged us in this aspect of the work.

First of all, during a service at one of our supporting churches in April, the pastor encouraged testimony from several who had participated in our summer ministries. Through their testimony, God allowed us to hear concrete evidence of His working through teams over the last eight years!  Secondly, the youth pastor of a church that brought a team last summer e-mailed yesterday to share of God’s special working in the heart of one of the young men who came.  “The trip had such an impact on him he requested that I help him set up a missions trip for him individually to help him determine the role of missions in his life. He leaves tomorrow for a week and a half in Madrid, Spain.”

Thank you for praying for Brandon, our summer intern, and thank you for praying for summer mission teams!

Our Summer Intern has Arrived!

Brandon at WorkBrandon Miller arrived on Sunday evening.  He has already begun cataloging Mike’s library with really cool software and a bar code reader.  On Sunday morning, he will share his testimony in French, then give a challenge through translation. What a blessing to have him here!

Our Daughter, Valerie Sandquist

In our recent e-mail update, we made reference to the team that came in May from Calvary Baptist Church, Greer, S.C. where Valerie is director of the daycare ministry.  We thought you might be interested in this article that appears on Calvary’s site.  Please pray for this church and it’s new pastor!  What a joy to see God using our daughter and her family there!

Work Projects 2011

Here’s a video walk through of work projects for this summer. We would appreciate your prayers for the first team from Oak Ridge Baptist in Tennessee which will arrive June 27th.
