Social Unrest

Manifestation du mouvement des gilets jaunes, à Belfort, le 01 décembre 2018.

“My kingdom is not of this world …”  John 18.36

The current social unrest here in France represented by the “yellow vest” protestors is a tangible reminder of this truth for our French brothers and sisters in Christ.  So far, the protests have been more of a nuisance than a real danger where we are concerned.

The demonstrations quieted down a bit following the terror attack at the famous Strasbourg Christmas Market.  However, activists are threatening fresh unrest after a prominent leader was recently arrested.

Please pray with us for God’s protection on all concerned.  Also pray that He will use all of this to awaken people to the futility of trusting in mankind.  Not until King Jesus returns to establish his kingdom on earth will we witness the perfect governmental system.

Musical Ministry Team

We are so thankful for the encouragement from the Beth Eden Baptist musical ministry team in June.  With the help of fellow missionary Kristi Colas and Ecclémusica, they offered special sessions and practices to help our young people learn how to use musical instruments for God’s glory.  This was followed by informal and formal concerts over the weekend.

A Baptism and New Members

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthieu 28.19–20, AV)

In  February we had the joy of performing a baptism and receiving new members.  Five testimonies of salvation replaced the morning message.  The gospel was made clear for the nearly 70 who were in attendance, the highest since our arrival two years ago.  God is at work!

A Musical Milestone

What an encouragement to have a choir number in a recent Sunday morning service.  Voices and accompaniment were furnished by our own folks.  It was especially refreshing to see young people excited about using musical abilities for the glory of God and the edification of His people.  This was the first time in a long time that the church was able to do anything like this.  We are having regular visitors.  Christ is building His church in Rouen!  Thank you for your faithful prayer support.

Pray for the Baptist Pastoral Bible Institute

Students of the Baptist Pastoral Bible Instute

The Bible Institute that we helped to organize in Québec was patterned after the one in Algrange, France, which has been in operation now since 1978.  Mike recently had the privilege of teaching there for the first time.  Melanie tagged along enabling both of us to profit from time with both current students and long-time personnel of the school.  Please pray for this ministry that God would continue to protect it and provide for it’s needs into the future.  Clicking on the following link will take you to the English section of their site:  Baptist Pastoral Bible Institute

Six Months After the Move

We are so thankful for the many who have prayed and given towards the move to France and for our outfitting needs. We wanted to share a few pictures. God has truly done some marvelous things to get us here and has provided every step of the way. (1 Thess 5:24)

God is in the Details

12377541_764504767015161_6901786025494880486_oThe snow finally started melting some in Quebec City this week! But there will still be plenty enough around for our move. Our son-in-law is going to try to get his brother’s snow blower to clear a path to the front door from the street, and from the driveway to the shed in the back yard!

The House has Sold!

House Sold!

After just two months on the market, the sale of our house in Québec City is now final.  We now know that a move will be possible after April 1st.  This clears the way to apply for visas at the French Consulate in Montréal.  Please continue to pray about all of the other details that must be handled before an actual move, including the right choice of and God’s provision for an overseas moving company.  Also, be praying with us for wisdom with regards to the eventual sale of our vehicle and God’s provision for another one in France.  In the midst of these and other big decisions, we continue to downsize and pack.
